Faith in Jesus Christ saves you, and the Bible makes that plain from one end to the other.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Faith in Jesus Christ saves you. The Bible makes this plain. There is no ritual to perform first, and nothing to add afterward. There is only the Son of the living God, and a heart that trusts Him.
1. The verses say it plainly
John 3:16 says whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 5:24 says whoever hears His word and believes has crossed from death to life. John 6:47 says whoever believes has eternal life. John 20:31 says these things are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.
Acts 16:31 tells us to believe in the Lord Jesus and we will be saved. Romans 3:28 says a person is justified by faith apart from works. Romans 5:1 says having been justified by faith, we have peace with God. Ephesians 2:8 and 9 say by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works. First John 5:11 through 13 says God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life.

2. Nothing is added to faith
Nowhere in these verses does God add water baptism as the price of salvation. Nowhere does He say a pool washes away sin. Sin being washed away and salvation are the same thing. The Bible never splits them apart. If baptism washed away sin, then salvation would be a work you do instead of a gift you receive by faith.

3. The blood does the washing
Water baptism does not apply the blood of Jesus to your soul. Only faith does that. First Peter 1:18 and 19 say you were redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. Hebrews 9:14 says His blood cleanses our conscience. Revelation 1:5 says He released us from our sins by His blood. Faith is what reaches out and takes what the blood already bought.
4. The baptism that matters is the Spirit’s
First Corinthians 12:13 says we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body. That is the baptism that matters. The Holy Spirit places you into Christ when you believe. Water baptism is a picture of what already happened. It is a public step of obedience. It does not create salvation. It shows it.
5. Jesus proved it Himself
Jesus proved this when He told the paralytic in Mark 2:5, “thy sins be forgiven thee,” with no water in sight. He told the woman in Luke 7:50, “Thy faith hath saved thee,” with no mention of a tank. The thief on the cross believed, and Jesus promised him Paradise in Luke 23:43. He never got baptized.
6. Water baptism follows: it never leads
Faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, is the only door to eternal life. Water baptism follows. It never leads.

What really saves you?
Faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:16, John 5:24, John 6:47, and John 20:31 all place eternal life on believing in Jesus Christ. There is no ritual to perform first, and nothing to add afterward.
Is anything added to faith in Jesus Christ?
No. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, "not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Nothing comes before it as a condition, and nothing completes it afterward.
Where does water baptism fit?
Water baptism follows salvation. It never leads to it. The washing belongs to the blood of Jesus Christ, and the baptism that places a believer into Jesus Christ is the work of the Holy Spirit.
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
