Somebody will tell you it is unloving to correct false doctrine, that you should just keep the peace. Let me answer that with the Word of God, because Jude, moved by the Holy Ghost, put a command on us:
“…that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3, KJV)
The command is real, and so is the manner
“Earnestly contend.” The word means to struggle firmly for something precious, not to pick fights, but to defend the deposit. An elder must be one “holding fast the faithful word… by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers” (Titus 1:9). Timothy was told, “Preach the word… reprove, rebuke, exhort” (2 Timothy 4:2). Contending for truth is not a sin, child of God: it is an assignment.
Jesus did it; Paul did it: in public, from Scripture
And look who did it. Paul “confounded the Jews… proving that this is very Christ” (Acts 9:22), reasoned in Athens and Corinth and Ephesus, and confronted Elymas to his face (Acts 13:6–12). He named names when the gospel was at stake: Hymenaeus, Alexander, Philetus. The Lord Jesus Himself openly rebuked the Pharisees’ hypocrisy (Matthew 23) and corrected His own disciples when they were wrong (Matthew 16:23). Public error was answered publicly, from the Book.
But not every quarrel is contending
Now hear the other side, because this is where many stumble. There is a fighting God forbids: “foolish and unlearned questions… gender strifes” (2 Timothy 2:23); “The servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle… in meekness instructing those that oppose” (2 Timothy 2:24–25). Contend for the faith, not for your ego. Aim at restoring a man, not humiliating him. So before I answer error in public I ask: is this truly important? Am I being fair? Can I show it from Scripture? Is my motive their rescue or my victory? Am I speaking with patience?
I will not confuse peace with silence
But when the gospel itself is being twisted, silence is not love: it is complicity. So I will not call error truth just to avoid a hard conversation. I will contend for the faith, and I will do it with the character of Christ. Both, child of God. Always both. Glory to God.

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
