Let me show you a verse tonight that settles the deity of Jesus Christ in seven words, if you will just read it the way Paul wrote it.
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13, KJV)
Now some try to split that verse in two, as if we are waiting for the great God (the Father) and also for our Saviour Jesus. But that is not what Paul said. In the Greek, one little article ties “the great God” and “our Saviour” together as titles of one Person: Jesus Christ. And the next verse proves it, because it keeps talking about that same one Person:
“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity…” (Titus 2:14, KJV)
Who gave Himself? Jesus. One Person appearing in glory, and He is called the great God and our Saviour. Glory to God.
The Old Testament demands it
And here is what makes it unanswerable, child of God. Go back and hear what God said about who the Saviour is:
“I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” (Isaiah 43:11, KJV)
There is no Saviour beside God: God said it Himself (Isaiah 45:21 says it again). Now put it together. God alone is Saviour. Jesus is our Saviour. Then Jesus must be God! That is not me twisting words; that is the Old Testament and the New Testament shaking hands. That is why Thomas fell down and said, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28), and why Paul called Him “over all, God blessed for ever” (Romans 9:5).
So when you look for His appearing, you are not looking for a great teacher, or the highest of God’s creatures. You are looking for the great God and your Saviour, Jesus Christ: fully God, yet still the Son, distinct from the Father. That is why the hope is called blessed, because of Who is coming. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

The Gospel, Stated Plainly
Everything I teach on this site rests on one message from Scripture. Read it in God’s own words from 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 1:16, and Ephesians 2:8-9.
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (KJV)
