Salvation in Jesus Christ series

John 3:5 and Titus 3:5:
Born of the Spirit (Part 9 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 9 of 12: Born of the Spirit. John 3:6 (KJV): “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” The new birth is the work of the Holy Ghost.

John 3:5 and Titus 3:5: the new birth is the Holy Ghost’s work.

Mark 16:16:
Read the Whole Verse (Part 8 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 8 of 12: Mark 16:16: Read the Whole Verse. Mark 16:16 (KJV): “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” The reason Jesus gives for condemnation is unbelief.

Mark 16:16: read the whole verse. Unbelief, not lack of water, is what condemns.

Acts 22:16:
Calling on the Name of the Lord (Part 7 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 7 of 12: Calling on the Name of the Lord. Acts 22:16 (KJV): “...arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” The water pictured the cleansing. Jesus Christ accomplished it.

Acts 22:16: the washing is joined to calling on the name of the Lord.

Acts 2:38 in Peter’s Full Witness
(Part 6 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 6 of 12: Acts 2:38 in Peter’s Full Witness. Acts 2:21 (KJV): “...whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Peter did not preach one way of remission in Acts 2 and another in Acts 10.

Acts 2:38 read alongside Peter’s full witness in Acts 10, Acts 15, and 1 Peter.

Paul: Justified by Faith, Justified by His Blood
(Part 5 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 5 of 12: Justified by Faith, Justified by His Blood. Romans 5:9 (KJV): “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” Faith in Jesus Christ is the means. The blood of Jesus Christ is the basis.

Paul: justified by faith in Jesus Christ as the means, justified by His blood as the basis.

Peter: Remission Through Believing
(Part 4 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 4 of 12: Peter: Remission Through Believing. Acts 10:43 (KJV): “...through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” Cornelius received the Holy Ghost before he ever stepped into the water.

Peter’s own preaching: whosoever believeth receives remission, and Cornelius received the Holy Ghost before the water.

His Blood Shed for the Remission of Sins
(Part 3 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 3 of 12: His Blood Shed for the Remission of Sins. Matthew 26:28 (KJV): “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Water baptism bears witness to that finished work. It never takes its place.

At the Last Supper Jesus Christ tied the remission of sins to His shed blood, and the whole New Testament agrees.

Jesus Said, Believe on Me (Part 2 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 2 of 12: Jesus Said, Believe on Me. John 6:47 (KJV): “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” Jesus Christ promised everlasting life to all who believe on Him.

Jesus Christ’s own repeated promise of everlasting life to all who believe on Him.

Search the Scriptures:
What Saves? (Part 1 of 12)

Salvation in Jesus Christ, Part 1 of 12: Search the Scriptures: What Saves? Acts 17:11 (KJV): “...they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Test every teaching on salvation against the whole Word of God.

The Berean rule for the whole series, and the foundation: grace, the blood of Jesus Christ, faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, then baptism.

Salvation in Jesus Christ:
Introduction to the 12-Part Series

The Central Thesis of This Series: salvation is provided by the grace of God, accomplished through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, secured through His shed blood, received through faith in Jesus Christ, and applied by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is commanded and important, but it must not be given the saving power Scripture assigns to Jesus Christ. Acts 17:11; Romans 3:21-28; Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19.

The central thesis of the 12-part series, and what the New Testament will be tested on from Acts 17:11 onward.
