Why I Reject Baptismal Regeneration and Oneness Doctrine

Let me lay my cards on the table and tell you plainly the two errors I cannot accept, and why: straight from the Book. The first touches how a man is saved. The second touches who God is. Both matter eternally.

Why I reject baptismal regeneration

I reject the teaching that water baptism washes away sin or is required to be saved, because Scripture hands the saving work to the blood, never the water. The Lord Jesus said, “this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28). We are “justified by his blood” (Romans 5:9), and have “redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Ephesians 1:7); “the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Even the old law preached it: “it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul” (Leviticus 17:11): water for ceremony, blood for atonement.

And the order in Acts settles it. In Cornelius’ house the Holy Ghost fell while Peter preached and they believed, “on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost”, and then they were baptized in water (Acts 10:44–48). The council said God was “purifying their hearts by faith” (Acts 15:9). So the sequence is: gospel heard → faith → the Spirit received → the heart cleansed by faith → then baptism in glad obedience. Baptism follows salvation; it does not produce it.

Why I reject the Oneness doctrine

And I reject the teaching that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are only one Person wearing three masks, because “God is one” (monotheism) is not the same as “God is one Person” (modalism). The Bible holds both truths at once: there is one God, and the Father, Son, and Spirit are distinct.

Watch them at the same time at the Jordan: the Son is in the water, the Spirit descends like a dove, and the Father’s voice comes from heaven, “This is my beloved Son” (Matthew 3:16–17): three, together, in one moment. Jesus said, “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter” (John 14:16): I, the Father, another. He prayed about “the glory which I had with thee before the world was” (John 17:5). We baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19).

And hear this carefully, child of God, because it is the hinge: proving Jesus is God (“the Word was God,” John 1:1; “before Abraham was, I am,” John 8:58; “My Lord and my God,” John 20:28) does not prove Jesus is the Father. He is fully God, and He is not the Father: “It is my Father that honoureth me” (John 8:54); “I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:17).

So test it for yourself

I am not asking you to take my word for it. Be like the Bereans, who “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11); “study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). And when you do, you land where the whole Book lands: “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31): “justified by faith without the deeds of the law” (Romans 3:28), “saved… through faith” (Ephesians 2:8), “cleansed… from all sin” by His blood (1 John 1:7). Glory to God.
